ICC Implements Emergency Plans Amid Middle East Tensions for T20 World Cup 2026

New Delhi, February 28: The T20 World Cup 2026, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, is currently underway. In light of the evolving situation in the Middle East, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is closely monitoring developments and has initiated emergency plans concerning travel, logistics, and security for all stakeholders involved in the tournament.

While the ongoing crisis in the Middle East does not directly impact the event, the ICC acknowledges that a significant number of personnel, including players, team management, match officials, broadcasting teams, and event staff, rely on major hub airports in the Gulf region, particularly Dubai (DXB). These airports serve as key transit points for returning to their home countries after fulfilling their responsibilities at the event.

An ICC spokesperson stated, “The safety and well-being of everyone associated with our event is our top priority. We have already activated our travel, logistics, and security teams, who are working around the clock to ensure that all stakeholders can return home safely with minimal disruption.”

The spokesperson further urged fans who have traveled or are planning to travel for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup to closely monitor the travel advisories being issued and to consider all aspects before undertaking any international travel.

The ICC’s travel and logistics team is actively collaborating with major international airlines to identify and secure alternative travel routes. This includes connecting flights through hubs in Europe, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.

ICC security advisors are in constant contact with relevant authorities and will issue real-time advisories based on the situation. Additionally, a dedicated ICC travel support desk has been established to assist stakeholders.

The ICC will continue to provide regular updates as the situation develops and remains fully committed to the smooth and safe conclusion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
