London, August 23: Hull City delivered a stunning upset by defeating Manchester United 2-0 at home in the opening round of the new Premier League season on Saturday.
Semi Ajayi put Hull City ahead in the 17th minute following a corner kick. Nobel Mendy doubled the lead with a header in the 38th minute, solidifying the home team’s advantage.
In another match, Tottenham Hotspur faced a disappointing 3-0 defeat against Brentford. The scoring began in the 12th minute when Keane Lewis-Potter netted a goal from a pass by Mamadou Sangare. Vitaly Janelt extended the lead in the 33rd minute, and Michael Kayode sealed the game with a third goal in the 49th minute.
Tottenham’s woes could have worsened when Igor Thiago hit the post with a penalty in the 55th minute.
Nottingham Forest’s new coach, Oliver Glasner, had a tough debut, losing 1-0 at home to Leeds United. The visitors secured all three points thanks to an 88th-minute free kick from Anton Stach.
