Hope for Mosque Reconstruction as Allahabad High Court Delivers Interim Relief

Saharanpur, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : Maulana Chaudhary Ibrahim Hussain, the chief mufti, welcomed the Allahabad High Court’s recent decision regarding the mosque dispute in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He expressed gratitude towards the court and shared his optimism that future hearings will lead to a ruling favoring the reconstruction of the mosque.

This statement comes as the Allahabad High Court granted interim relief to the mosque committee, halting the recovery of over six crore rupees in damages related to the mosque’s demolition at the Saharanpur collectorate. The court has also requested a response from the Uttar Pradesh government regarding the matter.

Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal issued this order while hearing a petition filed by Mohammad Tanveer. The next hearing is scheduled for October 12.

In an interview in Aligarh, Maulana Chaudhary Ibrahim noted that the Allahabad High Court has accepted the petition concerning the mosque’s demolition and sought a response from the government. Additionally, the court has put a stop to the fines imposed on the committee by the government. He emphasized that this decision enhances public trust in the judiciary, highlighting the court’s role in providing relief in such cases.

However, he criticized the mosque committee’s approach, suggesting that they acted carelessly. He pointed out that the committee should have promptly approached the higher court following the lower court’s ruling, instead of engaging in discussions at the district level. He remarked that the committee failed to present essential evidence before the court, revealing their negligence.

Looking ahead to the next hearing on October 12, he expressed hope that the court’s initial relief signals a positive outcome. He affirmed that the committee possesses sufficient evidence and documentation regarding the mosque’s ownership and rights, which local Muslims have held for a long time.

Maulana Chaudhary Ibrahim reiterated his belief that the court will ultimately rule in favor of reconstructing the mosque, given the initial positive developments.
