Glasgow, August 2: The 10th day of the Commonwealth Games 2026 has been historic for India. The nation secured a total of 16 medals, including 7 golds. Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to all the athletes who won medals.
Indian boxers particularly shone on this day, with a remarkable tally of 10 medals in boxing alone. PM Modi congratulated boxer Sachin Siwach for winning the gold medal in the 60 kg category. He shared on his social media platform, “Sachin Siwach has won the gold medal in Glasgow. Congratulations on this achievement in the men’s 60 kg boxing event. He will inspire many young boxers. Best wishes for his future endeavors. He continues to bring pride to India.”
The Prime Minister also praised female boxer Lovlina Borgohain for winning a silver medal. He expressed pride in her performance in the women’s 75 kg boxing event, stating, “Lovlina Borgohain has showcased exceptional skill in all her matches. Congratulations to her. Her dedication and perseverance continue to inspire athletes across the country.”
Furthermore, PM Modi commended Arundhati Choudhary for her gold medal victory. He noted, “Arundhati Choudhary has made history by winning the gold medal in the women’s 70 kg boxing event at the Glasgow Games. She demonstrated excellent technique and unwavering confidence. Congratulations to her, and best wishes for her future successes.”
In a message to Priya Ghanghas, he remarked, “Priya Ghanghas has won a remarkable gold medal in the women’s 60 kg boxing event. This reflects her exceptional skill and mental strength. Congratulations to her, and my best wishes for her future efforts.”
The Prime Minister also praised Sakshi and Jadumani Singh for their medal achievements in boxing. He stated, “Sakshi has won a splendid gold medal in the women’s 51 kg boxing event. Congratulations on her outstanding performance and decisive victory. May she achieve even greater successes in the future.”
He congratulated Jadumani Singh Mandeangbam for winning a silver medal in the men’s 55 kg boxing event, highlighting that this success is a result of his courage, discipline, and determination. “Best wishes for his future endeavors,” he added.
Somnath Rana, who secured a gold medal in shot put, received accolades from the Prime Minister as well. He wrote, “Somnath Rana has made history by winning the gold medal in the men’s shot put F57 event. With this remarkable victory, he has achieved India’s first Commonwealth gold medal in this event. His focus and unwavering determination were evident throughout the competition. Best wishes for his future efforts.”
Lastly, PM Modi praised Shubham Juyal for winning a silver medal in the men’s shot put. He expressed pride in Shubham’s exceptional technique and dedication to the sport, hoping this success inspires him to achieve even greater milestones in the future.
