
Indore, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : India posted a formidable total of 223 runs in the third T20 match against West Indies, driven by a remarkable century partnership between Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan. Both teams entered the match eager to seize the series lead.
After losing the toss, India batted first but quickly lost Sanju Samson for just 3 runs at a score of 7. Following this setback, Sharma and Kishan formed a crucial partnership, amassing 108 runs for the second wicket in just 40 balls. Kishan contributed 37 runs off 18 balls, including one six and six fours, before being dismissed.
However, the Indian innings faced challenges as wickets began to tumble. By the time the score reached 135, India had lost five wickets. Tilak Varma stepped up to stabilize the innings, adding 34 runs for the sixth wicket alongside Nitish Reddy. He later partnered with Axar Patel to secure 25 runs in just 14 balls.
Varma was run out after scoring 28 runs off 16 balls, which included four boundaries. Axar Patel played a vital role in pushing the team past 200 runs, while Nitish Kumar Reddy contributed 21 runs. Patel finished with 20 runs. For West Indies, Rostan Chase, Shamar Springer, and Shamar Joseph each took two wickets. Keemo Paul and Gudakesh Motie claimed one wicket apiece.
Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, the Indian lineup featured Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Naman Dhir, Axar Patel, Mayank Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, and Prince Yadav.
West Indies’ playing XI included Shai Hope (wicketkeeper/captain), Kamil Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, Quentin Sampson, Keemo Paul, Rostan Chase, Shamar Springer, Shamar Joseph, and Gudakesh Motie.
After winning the ODI series 2-1, India claimed the first T20 match by 8 wickets. However, West Indies bounced back to win the second match in Ranchi by 6 wickets, leveling the five-match series at 1-1. Both teams are now keen to secure a victory to take the lead in the series.
