
Glasgow, August 2: In an impressive display at the Commonwealth Games 2026, boxer Arundhati Chaudhary clinched the gold medal in the women’s 70 kg category, while Lovlina Borgohain earned a silver medal in the women’s 75 kg category. With these victories, India’s gold medal tally has reached 11, placing the nation fourth overall with a total of 35 medals.
In bout number 183, Arundhati faced England’s Chantelle Reed, securing a remarkable 5-0 victory. The match, held at SEC Hall-5, saw Arundhati dominate the first round, with four out of five judges awarding her 10-10 points. She continued to impress in the subsequent rounds, maintaining her lead with unanimous decisions from all judges.
In bout number 184, Lovlina Borgohain was defeated by Australia’s Emma-Sue Greentree in a closely contested match, ending with a split decision of 4-1. The Australian boxer showcased her strength in the first round, earning 10-10 points from four judges. Lovlina made a strong comeback in the second round, winning it 4-1, but ultimately lost the third round, which led to her settling for silver.
Additionally, Preeti Pawar secured a gold medal in the women’s 54 kg competition, defeating Canada’s Scarlett Savana Delgado 5-0. In the women’s 57 kg category, Jasmin Lamboria also claimed gold by overcoming Northern Ireland’s Michaela Walsh with a 5-0 victory. However, Jadumani Singh had to settle for silver after losing 0-5 to Australia’s Jai Dixon.
Sakshi added a third gold for India in the 51 kg category by defeating England’s Ruby White 5-0. Priya Ghanghas followed suit, winning against Canada’s Mary-Bathool Al-Ahmadiyeh 4-1, contributing another gold to India’s medal tally.
India has now secured a total of seven medals in boxing, comprising five gold and two silver. With 11 gold, 16 silver, and 8 bronze medals, India stands proudly in fourth place in the overall medal tally.
