Large-scale plantation drive under ‘Ek Ped Ma ke Nam’ as part of the Government’s Hariyalo Rajasthan

Hindustan Zinc (NSE: HINDZINC), the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, in association with the Forest Department, Udaipur, organised a large-scale plantation drive under its flagship initiative ‘Ek Ped Ma ke Nam’ as part of the Government’s Hariyalo Rajasthan campaign at the Baghdarra Crocodile Conservation Reserve. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of dignitaries including CEO Arun Misra, Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Udaipur S.R. Yadav, Deputy Conservator of Forests Yadvendra Singh Chundawat, Retired Chief Conservator Rahul Bhatnagar, COO Kishore Kumar S, Head CSR Anupam Nidhi, Chief HSE & Environment Pradeep Singh, and around 100 volunteers comprising company employees, forest officials, and students from Zinc Kaushal, Udaipur.
During the event, 500 saplings were planted, and a target was set to plant and nurture 5,000 saplings, reinforcing the commitment to greener landscapes and biodiversity conservation. The initiative encourages every individual to plant a tree in the name of their mother or any loved one, fostering an emotional bond with nature and supporting a healthier environment.
Speaking on the occasion, CEO Arun Misra commended the Forest Department’s efforts in wildlife conservation at Baghdarra and stated, “We are proud to contribute to the development of this park. Udaipur should be celebrated for its pristine habitats like Baghdarra along with its lakes and palaces. Our commitment goes beyond this plantation drive—we remain dedicated to protecting Baghdarra’s species and preserving its rich biodiversity.”
Chief Conservator S.R. Yadav added, “Under the Hariyalo Rajasthan campaign, we have launched a plantation drive with a target of 5,000 saplings at Baghdarra, in association with Hindustan Zinc and the Forest Department. This effort also includes eco-tourism initiatives such as walking trails and jungle visits, along with habitat management activities like removing invasive species and restoring land. Together, these steps will help in the holistic development and biodiversity conservation of Baghdarra.”
Earlier this year, Hindustan Zinc signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Forest Department, Udaipur, for an investment of ₹5 crore to rejuvenate the Baghdarra Crocodile Conservation Reserve. The project focuses on large-scale afforestation, habitat restoration, eco-friendly visitor facilities, water conservation structures like ponds and check dams, and scientific interventions for crocodile and wildlife protection.
