Guwahati, May 12: Himanta Biswa Sarma took the oath of office as Chief Minister of Assam for a second time on Tuesday. The ceremony was attended by senior leaders from the BJP and members of the NDA coalition. Atul Bora, president of the Assam Gana Parishad (AGP), described the day as historic.

He stated, “Today is a very special day as Himanta Biswa Sarma has become Chief Minister for the second time. This moment will remain etched in my memory for a lifetime.” Bora noted that the oath-taking ceremony was graced by Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and NDA national president Nitin Nabin, among other leaders and ministers. Supporters from across the country also gathered for the event.

Atul Bora remarked that this marks the third time an NDA government has been formed in the state. He highlighted that significant development has occurred in Assam over the past five years, which has led the public to support the government once again with a substantial majority. He congratulated the Chief Minister, emphasizing that the trust placed in him is a crucial responsibility for development.

On the other hand, Pradyot Vikram Manikya Deb Barma, president of the Tipra Motha Party (TMP), active in Northeast politics, expressed, “I only wish for the welfare of the Northeast. Whoever comes to power must remember that if we think beyond politics and parties and focus on our country and region first, development will follow. I hope the overall development of Assam will lead to the comprehensive progress of the Northeast.”

Deb Barma also addressed the issue of illegal immigration, stating, “The problem related to Bangladesh is a significant issue. Until we resolve this matter, we will continue to face challenges in the Northeast.”
