Gurugram, September 1 (Kiran News). Continuous heavy monsoon rainfall on Monday brought Gurugram to a standstill, leaving large parts of the city waterlogged for hours. Streets, underpasses, colonies, and key expressways such as the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway and Dwarka Expressway were all submerged in deep water, causing major inconvenience for commuters. Many vehicles stalled in the water, while some barely managed to crawl through the flooded streets. Gurugram traffic police remained active throughout, pushing stalled vehicles to safety or moving them aside to restore traffic flow.

For the past two months, monsoon rainfall has been relentless across much of the country. After record-breaking rains in August, the very first day of September saw more intense downpours. According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon is far from over and more rainfall is expected. The year 2025 has so far seen a strong monsoon, with several areas facing flood-like situations. In many states, floods have already been reported. Traditionally, the monsoon begins to retreat by mid-September and is gone by the first week of October, but this year the weather department predicts a delay.
Traffic Police Remain Alert Amid Flooding
Due to heavy rainfall, several roads and intersections across Gurugram experienced severe waterlogging, disrupting traffic movement. To manage the situation and ensure the safety of citizens and motorists, traffic police officers and staff were given special instructions in advance. Their goal: to prevent congestion and maintain the smooth flow of vehicles, even during the downpour.
Despite the challenges, Gurugram’s traffic police worked at various hotspots—including Tulip Chowk, Malibu Town, Bilaspur Chowk, Mahavir Chowk, Narsinghpur Foot Over Bridge, Rajiv Chowk, Signature Tower, Galleria Market, and IFFCO Chowk. They coordinated with relevant departments to pump out water from flooded areas and kept traffic moving. Vehicles that were stranded or had broken down were either pushed or towed to safe locations with the help of cranes.
Development Claims Washed Away by Rain
The heavy rains exposed the gaps in Gurugram’s urban planning and flood management. Several localities were left waterlogged, roads submerged, and crops damaged. While the rain brought respite to some, it also highlighted the urgent need for better drainage and infrastructure improvements across the city.
