Chittorgarh, 30 July : In view of the heavy rain forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, a red alert has been sounded for Chittorgarh district. Considering the safety of students, the Chief District Education Officer and the Deputy Director of the Department of Women and Child Development had recommended a holiday. Acting swiftly on the recommendation, District Collector and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority, Alok Ranjan, has announced a one-day holiday for all students on Thursday.

Holiday Declared Under Disaster Management Act
Using the powers granted under Section 30 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the District Collector has declared a holiday for all students studying in Classes 1 to 12 across government and private schools, as well as Anganwadi centres in the district. The holiday is applicable only to students. All teaching and administrative staff of schools and Anganwadi centres are required to remain on duty as usual.
Strict Compliance Ordered
The District Collector has issued clear instructions to all heads of institutions to ensure strict compliance with the order. Any head of institution found violating the directive will face strict action under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
It is worth noting that this is the third school holiday announced in Chittorgarh due to continuous heavy rain alerts. Such a sequence of weather-related school closures is being witnessed in the district after a long time.
