Odisha Chief Minister Directs Strict Monitoring for Ram Navami Celebrations

Bhubaneswar, March 25: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has issued strict directives to the police administration to maintain law and order during the upcoming Ram Navami celebrations on March 27.

During a high-level meeting held at the Lok Seva Bhawan, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for rigorous monitoring and effective management to ensure a peaceful festival across the state.

In 2025, extensive precautionary measures taken by the police resulted in a peaceful celebration. The Chief Minister instructed officials to implement similar arrangements this year, which include adequate deployment of police forces and proper coordination.

Highlighting the significance of Ram Navami, CM Majhi stated that the birth anniversary of Lord Shri Ram is celebrated with great reverence throughout the country. He stressed that it is the police administration’s responsibility to enable devotees in Odisha to celebrate the festival peacefully, without fear or inconvenience. He also underscored the importance of smooth procession management and overall public order maintenance during the celebrations.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including the Chief Minister’s advisor Prakash Mishra, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hemant Sharma, Director General of Police Y.B. Khurania, Additional DGP (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar, Intelligence Director R.P. Koche, and Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner Dev Dutta Singh.

Notably, Ram Navami is celebrated with great pomp across every corner of Odisha, where devotees participate in religious rituals, prayers, and cultural programs.

On this occasion, several Hindu organizations also organize large processions in towns and villages, often featuring music, chanting, and community gatherings that reflect deep faith and devotion.

Thanks to extensive security arrangements by the Odisha police at sensitive locations, there have been no significant incidents of communal unrest in recent years.
