Heatwave Hits Noida: Surge in Hospital Visits Due to Dehydration and Heat-Related Illnesses

Noida, April 28: The relentless heatwave is taking a toll on public health in Noida. The soaring temperatures and harsh sunlight have led to a significant increase in hospital visits. Many individuals are suffering from dehydration and heat-related illnesses.

Children and the elderly are particularly vulnerable. Doctors report a rise in cases of dehydration, heat stroke, vomiting, diarrhea, and general weakness. Hospitals are witnessing thousands of patients daily.

On April 24, 2026, a total of 2,769 patients visited outpatient departments (OPD), with 1,954 registering through the Aadhar scan system. Additionally, 372 other cases were recorded, including 328 dog bite incidents. The situation remained similar on April 25, with 2,653 patients in OPD and 1,898 using the Aadhar scan. There were 223 other cases, including 184 dog bites.

However, the number of patients surged even more on April 27, with 3,022 individuals visiting OPD and 2,158 registering via Aadhar. A total of 471 other cases were noted, with 427 related to dog bites, raising concerns among health officials.

Doctors emphasize that the extreme heat is causing dehydration, worsening people’s conditions. The weakened immune systems of children and the elderly make them more susceptible to illness. Health experts advise the public to avoid going out during peak afternoon hours, drink plenty of water, consume light and nutritious meals, and cover their heads when exposed to sunlight.
