Heatwave Continues in Madhya Pradesh; Khajuraho Records 46 Degrees Celsius

Bhopal, April 28: Madhya Pradesh is currently experiencing a severe heatwave. On Tuesday, many cities in the state recorded temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.

The popular tourist destination and temple city of Khajuraho reached a maximum temperature of 46 degrees Celsius. Despite minor fluctuations in temperature compared to previous days, Khajuraho remains one of the hottest locations in the region.

Other cities also reported extreme heat, with Sidhi recording 44.6 degrees Celsius and Shyopur reaching 44.8 degrees Celsius. While most divisions experienced dry weather, some areas in the Sagar division, as well as sporadic locations in Gwalior, Rewa, and Jabalpur, recorded rainfall.

Key rainfall figures include 15.4 millimeters in Garhakota and 9.6 millimeters in Gonnour. The temperature trends indicate a significant rise in heat across several districts. Khajuraho recorded the highest maximum temperature at 46 degrees Celsius, while Pachmarhi noted the lowest minimum temperature at 15 degrees Celsius.

The heatwave is affecting areas like Chhindwara, Khajuraho, and Naugan. Additionally, residents in Ujjain, Rewa, Satna, and Khajuraho have experienced heat even during the night, with Umaria facing extreme heat conditions overnight.

In the Shahdol division, maximum temperatures have increased by approximately 2.5 degrees Celsius. Many other divisions, including Bhopal, Ujjain, and Gwalior, are also experiencing above-normal temperatures.

Current weather conditions indicate that a western disturbance is active as a trough, with several cyclonic circulations present over Uttar Pradesh. As a result, according to forecasts valid until the morning of April 29, light rain or drizzle with thunder and lightning is possible in districts like Gwalior, Rewa, Satna, and Chhatarpur.

However, dry weather is expected in the remaining parts of the state. Authorities have issued warnings regarding the ongoing heat conditions in districts such as Vidisha, Raisen, and Sagar.

In some areas, strong winds may blow at speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, accompanied by lightning. Particularly for Bhopal, mostly clear skies are anticipated, with maximum temperatures potentially reaching 43 degrees Celsius.

Looking ahead, no significant changes in weather are expected in the next 24 hours. Following that, a gradual decline of about two degrees Celsius in temperature may occur over the next three days.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during the afternoon, and wear light cotton clothing. Farmers should ensure frequent irrigation of their crops and provide shade and ventilation for their livestock.
