New Delhi, August 24: The national capital is witnessing an increase in viral infections as the weather changes. Cases of Influenza A (H1N1), a strain of the swine flu virus, are on the rise in the city.
In response, the Health Ministry shared a post on the social media platform ‘X’ on Monday, outlining the symptoms of Influenza A. The post stated, “Influenza A (H1N1) can cause symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, headache, body aches, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.”
The ministry further noted, “Influenza typically resolves on its own in healthy adults. Proper management of symptoms, adequate hydration, and sufficient rest usually lead to better recovery. However, if symptoms do not improve within 5-6 days, or if you belong to a high-risk age group or have pre-existing conditions, consult your doctor or visit the nearest government health center.”
The Health Ministry has advised the public to recognize the early signs of this viral infection and maintain good health.
If you happen to contract Influenza A (H1N1), there is no need to panic. It is essential to take proper precautions. To fully recover, you should follow your doctor’s advice and consume nutritious meals on time.
Avoid close contact with others if you are infected. Wear a mask, especially when going outside or being around other people. Exercise particular caution around the elderly, young children, or those with existing health issues to minimize the risk of spreading the infection.
When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or handkerchief, and change it regularly. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water frequently. Additionally, continue using hand sanitizer. Take your medications and meals on time, and ensure you get plenty of rest and sleep.
