The investment aims to help WalkAbout strengthen its platform and expand its curated experiences across India.

Formerly known as GetSetUp India Pvt. Ltd, WalkAbout hosts curated events and experiences in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai, fostering what it calls a “third space” — a social hub for individuals aged 55 and above to connect, learn, and stay mentally and physically active.

Speaking on the initiative, Arup Rakshit, Group Head – Treasury, HDFC Bank, said, “As a leading institution, we believe in backing emerging industries and innovative solutions that create meaningful social impact. WalkAbout’s curated experiences for seniors make later years more engaging and intellectually stimulating. We’re delighted to support such an inspiring enterprise through our seed funding.”

With India’s 50+ population projected to exceed 300 million by 2050, WalkAbout seeks to address this demographic shift by offering structured programs that promote social connection, physical wellness, and lifelong learning among older adults.

Deval Delivala, Founder and CEO of WalkAbout, said, “HDFC Bank’s investment reinforces our belief that active ageing is both a social and economic imperative. This partnership will help us enhance our digital and in-person experiences to better serve India’s active ageing community. Supporting people to stay curious, connected, and healthy today ensures they age with dignity and independence tomorrow.”

The investment was made through the HDFC Bank Venture Capital Programme, which supports innovative start-ups. The bank has recently invested in quantum cybersecurity firm QNu Labs and Bharat GPT creator CoRover, as part of its mission to accelerate technology-driven growth across emerging sectors.
