Gurugram, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : A Gurugram court has ordered the remand of Kalyan Bainsla, the driver accused of hitting a female biker on Golf Course Road, and his cousin, Lavanish, to police custody for two days. The decision was made by Judicial Magistrate First Class Nidhi Beniwal on Wednesday.
The two were presented in court following their arrest by Gurugram police, who apprehended Bainsla in Dausa, Rajasthan, and Lavanish in Palwal, Haryana, just a day prior. Witness accounts indicate that Lavanish was in the car at the time of the incident.
Initially, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) under Section 109 of the Indian Penal Code, relating to attempted murder, after the victim, Siya, and her family demanded strict action against those responsible. The case gained traction when the police took notice of a video showing the biker being struck by the car.
Following a thorough investigation and analysis of CCTV footage, authorities intensified the charges, which could result in a sentence of up to ten years. This escalation occurred after Siya’s family submitted a written statement to Inspector Manoj Kumar at the Sector 56 police station. The police are currently documenting her detailed statement as part of their investigation.
Gurugram police have stated their commitment to maintaining law and order, emphasizing that they will not tolerate violations and will take stringent action against offenders.
In the meantime, Siya has called for severe penalties for all four individuals in the car. She stressed the importance of conveying a strong message about women’s safety in society. Speaking to reporters, Siya expressed her hopes for justice from the court, insisting that those involved should face harsh consequences. She believes that this is the only way to deter similar behavior in the future.
