Gurabazs Half-Century Leads Amazon Warriors to Victory Over Jamaica Kingsmen

Guyana, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 witnessed an exciting clash on September 5 at Providence Cricket Stadium, where the Guyana Amazon Warriors triumphed over the Jamaica Kingsmen by eight wickets.

Winning the toss, the Amazon Warriors opted to bowl first. The Jamaica Kingsmen managed to score 159 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Hasan Khan, batting at number seven, played a remarkable innings, scoring an unbeaten 62 runs off just 29 balls, which included six sixes and two fours. Mazz Sadakat contributed with 35 runs off 34 balls, while K.C. Carty, Kimo Paul, Odean Smith, and Usman Khan chipped in with scores of 18, 15, 13, and 10 runs, respectively.

For the Amazon Warriors, Dwayne Pretorius and Khary Pierre each took two wickets, while Mohammad Nabi claimed one.

Chasing a target of 160, the Amazon Warriors got off to a strong start, with openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Mavendra Dindayal adding 46 runs for the first wicket in just 4.3 overs. Dindayal scored 33 runs off 17 balls, hitting four sixes and one four before being dismissed. Gurbaz then secured a half-century, scoring 54 runs off 35 balls, featuring three sixes and five fours. He was out in the 12.2 over with the score at 114.

Following Gurbaz’s departure, the Warriors maintained their composure. Captain Shai Hope remained unbeaten with 39 runs off 35 balls, while Shimron Hetmyer added 30 runs off 17 balls. The duo’s partnership of 46 runs helped the team reach the target in 17.2 overs, finishing at 160 for two.

Mazz Sadakat and Hunaian Shah each took one wicket for the Kingsmen.

With this victory, the Guyana Amazon Warriors secured their fifth win of the season, moving up to second place with 10 points. Conversely, the Jamaica Kingsmen suffered their fifth loss in nine matches and currently sit in third place.
