Bengaluru, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : Bengaluru witnessed an impressive display of talent at the KSLTA World Tennis Junior J30, where 15-year-old Shrinithi Chaudhary achieved a remarkable feat by winning both the girls’ singles and doubles titles. The event took place at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium on Saturday, marking the end of a stellar week for the young athlete.
The fourth-seeded Shrinithi began her day by defeating fellow Bengaluru player Ahida Singh in the singles final, winning decisively with scores of 6-4, 6-2. Following this, she teamed up with Riddhi Shinde to clinch the doubles title, overcoming the duo of Joha Qureshi and Deepti Venkatesan in a thrilling match that ended 4-6, 6-2, 13-11.
In the boys’ singles final, sixth-seeded Fazal Ali Mir triumphed over the third-seeded Nyant Badrinarayanan from the United States. The match concluded with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 2-0 after Nyant retired due to cramps. Additionally, the duo of Chukka Lakshya Vardhan and Parthiv Nallagundla secured the doubles title by defeating Nitinbharat KS and Abhivady Mishra in a closely contested final, finishing 6-7 (3), 7-6 (3), 10-4.
Shrinithi, a tenth-grade student at DPS East School, has had an exceptional two weeks. She previously secured the title at the ITF J60 tournament in Hyderabad before continuing her winning streak in Bengaluru. Her achievement of the Golden Double highlights her remarkable skill and determination.
The singles final against fifth-seeded Ahida was particularly challenging. Shrinithi started poorly, falling behind 0-3 and losing her serve in the first and third games. However, she rallied back with powerful returns and aggressive net play, leveling the score at 4-4 before taking the first set 6-4.
In the second set, Shrinithi maintained her momentum by breaking Ahida’s serve early on. Despite a strong challenge from Ahida, Shrinithi remained composed, winning the set 6-2 and securing the singles title. The boys’ final was intense, but Nyant’s cramps forced him to retire early in the deciding set.
Fazal started strong, breaking Nyant’s serve for a 2-0 lead. Although Nyant fought back, the match remained competitive until he experienced cramps. Despite his efforts, he could not maintain his earlier pace. Fazal capitalized on this, winning four consecutive games to take the second set 6-4. The final set was brief, with Fazal breaking Nyant’s serve again, leading to Nyant’s retirement and Fazal’s victory in the boys’ singles event.
