Gujarats E-Zero FIR System Brings Justice to Cyber Fraud Victims at Home

Gandhinagar, August 17: The Gujarat government’s E-Zero FIR system for reporting cyber financial fraud is proving to be a double boon. Firstly, it accelerates investigations, increasing the chances of preventing financial losses. Secondly, it allows victims to receive justice from the comfort of their homes.

The E-Zero FIR system, initiated by the state government, has gained widespread acceptance among residents. More individuals are utilizing this platform to file police complaints against financial crimes.

In today’s digital age, the biggest challenge for cyber police is identifying fraudsters, as they operate without a fixed location and carry out criminal activities on the move.

To address the issues faced by victims of online fraud, the Gujarat Police Cyber Cell recently launched a system for registering ‘Cyber Financial Fraud E-Zero FIRs’ through the national cybercrime helpline number 1930.

This E-Zero FIR process is now enabling cases to be registered across the state, with victims recovering their defrauded amounts. An Ahmedabad cyber fraud victim shared their experience, stating that they were scammed, resulting in ₹2.30 crore being transferred from their bank account to another fund. After reporting the incident to the cybercrime unit, they managed to recover ₹1.63 crore with their assistance.

Under the new complaint resolution system, the police register E-Zero FIRs for financial fraud reported via the 1930 helpline and forward them to the relevant police station. Subsequently, the police contact the victim and initiate an investigation with the bank involved in the fraudulent transaction.

Cyber experts advise citizens to remain vigilant against financial fraud and to report such incidents immediately by calling the 1930 helpline number.

This initiative by the Gujarat Police has provided immense relief to victims of cyber fraud. They no longer need to repeatedly visit police stations to file complaints, as FIRs can now be registered from home.

This development alleviates the mental stress and hassle of running around to report digital fraud.
