
Beijing, August 21: During an open debate on the working methods of the United Nations Security Council, China’s Permanent Representative Fu Cong emphasized that unity and cooperation should be the core principles guiding the Council’s operations.
Fu Cong stated that the working methods of the Security Council are not merely technical issues. They must be continuously improved and made more effective, keeping in mind the broader interests of international peace and security.
He urged all Council members to respect one another, engage in thorough discussions, resolve differences appropriately, and strive for consensus in every possible way.

He also urged opposition to illegal unilateral actions that bypass the Security Council and the United Nations. Moreover, he encouraged the permanent members of the Council to play a leading role in a fair and just manner.
