Gandhinagar, June 17: Gujarat has become the first state in India to establish a public traffic circle dedicated to the Indian Coast Guard. The ‘Bharatiya Tatrakshak Swarn Jayanti Circle’ was inaugurated in Gandhinagar to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Coast Guard.
The state government renamed the previously known CHH-4B Circle in honor of the Indian Coast Guard’s five decades of dedicated service to the nation.
The inauguration was officiated by Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi. Present at the event were Inspector General Tekur Shashi Kumar (TM), the commander of the Indian Coast Guard Region (North West), along with senior state officials, former Coast Guard personnel, and officers.
Officials stated, “This inauguration marks a significant milestone in the relationship between the Indian Coast Guard and the state. It is the first public circle in the country dedicated to the Indian Coast Guard.”
The ‘Bharatiya Tatrakshak Swarn Jayanti Circle’ is designed to reflect the operational capabilities and values of the maritime force.
At its center stands a model of the Indian Coast Guard’s Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV), symbolizing strength, maritime dominance, and the security of Gujarat’s coastline and maritime borders.
The installation also features a Dornier aircraft and Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), showcasing the Coast Guard’s rapid response capabilities, aerial surveillance expertise, and operational reach.
Statues of Coast Guard personnel have been erected to represent the force’s unwavering vigilance and dedication to duty.
Additionally, a digital wall has been installed on-site, continuously displaying the activities and operations of the Indian Coast Guard.
Officials mentioned that the purpose of this exhibition is to raise public awareness about the service and to reinforce the message that the Indian Coast Guard is “always vigilant at sea 24×7×365, protecting the nation’s maritime interests without pause.”
The state government emphasized that this inauguration reflects an inclusive approach to recognizing the contributions of the forces that work to safeguard the nation’s maritime boundaries.
It is hoped that this circle will become a lasting source of public awareness and inspiration, highlighting the role of the Indian Coast Guard in coastal security, environmental protection, humanitarian assistance, and nation-building.
Officials affirmed that this landmark has been established in honor of the Indian Coast Guard’s unwavering commitment and dedication. Its aim is to foster a sense of pride and understanding among citizens regarding the contributions of this force in protecting India’s maritime interests.
