Jamnagar, July 29: The Gujarat Police‘s State Monitoring Cell (SMC) has confiscated illegal Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and beer worth ₹77.71 lakhs during a raid in Jamnagar district. The total estimated value of the seized goods exceeds ₹1 crore.
Three individuals have been arrested in connection with this operation, while 13 others linked to the liquor supply network have been declared wanted.
The raid was conducted by a team led by Police Inspector P.P. Brahmbhatt from the SMC in a field located in Sanosari village, under the jurisdiction of Lalpur police station.
This operation was initiated following directives from Gujarat’s Director General of Police (DGP) G.S. Malik to intensify actions against illegal liquor and gambling activities across the state.
Authorities reported that approximately 500 cartons of IMFL and beer were recovered, containing 5,978 bottles valued at ₹77,71,400. Including other seized items, the total estimated value of the confiscated goods amounts to ₹1,00,85,530.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Nagabhai Dangar from Sanosari village, Hemat Dangar from the Vanandewari Sim area of Lalpur, and Surajprakash Jat from the Dhaniya village in Jalore district, Rajasthan.
Charges have been filed against the accused under the Gujarat Prohibition Act as well as the Indian Penal Code.
This recent operation adds to a series of significant liquor seizures by the State Monitoring Cell this year. Earlier this month, the SMC confiscated over ₹48.35 lakhs worth of IMFL and beer in Kutch, bringing the total value of seized assets to ₹78.57 lakhs.
