Jammu, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : Leaders from the India Block have announced a peaceful protest march in Jammu, themed ‘Save Votes, Save Country.’ Scheduled for Wednesday, the march will take place from Girdhari Lal Dogra Chowk to Ambedkar Chowk. Participants will rally against electoral irregularities and demand accountability.
A Congress leader stated, “Today, the leadership of the alliance in both rural and urban Jammu convened and decided to hold a peaceful march on Wednesday. Senior leaders and activists from Congress and like-minded parties will participate. We will demand the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner and call for sedition charges against those involved in stealing votes.”
The leader further mentioned that the RJD, Congress, and allied parties had planned a week-long program from October 2 to 8. This included a march towards the Rashtrapati Bhavan. “If we are arrested during this time, it would be a serious violation of democracy. It feels as if democracy has ceased to exist here, and we are living under a dictatorship. However, we will not be intimidated. Regardless of the cases filed against us or the threat of jail, our struggle will continue until sedition charges are filed against the Chief Election Commissioner.”
Another leader emphasized the importance of the protest, stating, “Today, a press conference was held by the India Block, which included Congress, the National Conference, and the PDP. Our sole issue is that the common man’s trust in voting is dwindling, and the BJP is to blame. If faith in voting is lost, what remains of democracy? Political parties exist only if democracy is upheld.”
The Congress leader reiterated the unity of the alliance, stating that they are coming together at 11 AM on Wednesday to protest against the alleged vote theft orchestrated by the BJP. “I urge all like-minded individuals to unite and join us in this demonstration, so the world knows that the BJP will face consequences for its actions. We are here to save the country, and we need your support.”
