Gujarat Police Seize Liquor Worth ₹63 Lakh, Truck Driver Arrested

Surendranagar, June 25: The Gujarat Police’s State Monitoring Cell (SMC) has seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) valued at over ₹63 lakh during a raid in Surendranagar district. A truck driver has been arrested in connection with this operation.

The raid took place at Hotel Nagraj in Dhedhuki village, located in the Sayla taluka. Authorities intercepted a truck trailer suspected of transporting liquor and conducted a search, uncovering 21,574 bottles and cans of IMFL, valued at ₹63,09,300.

The confiscated stock included Star Gold Premium Whisky (180 ML), Discount Premium Whisky (180 ML), All Seasons Reserve Whisky (750 ML), Royal Challenge Premium Deluxe Whisky (750 ML), and Kingfisher Super Strong Premium Beer (500 ML).

In addition to the liquor haul, officials seized a truck trailer worth ₹30 lakh, two mobile phones valued at ₹15,000, two tarpaulins worth ₹2,000, and a rope valued at ₹200. The total estimated value of the seized items is approximately ₹93,26,500. The arrested individual has been identified as Karan Singh from Mehuwala village in Fatehabad district, Haryana. He has been handed over to the Sayla police station for further investigation.

The police have declared three other suspects wanted in this case. These include Indrajit Jat from Bhattukala in Fatehabad, who is accused of supplying the liquor, an unidentified individual who received the shipment, and the owner of the truck-trailer.

Investigations are ongoing to trace the supply chain and apprehend the remaining suspects. This seizure is part of the ongoing enforcement of liquor prohibition laws in Gujarat.

On Tuesday, authorities seized liquor worth ₹19 lakh from a horse farm near Gandhinagar and arrested four individuals for illegal storage and distribution of alcohol. Investigators reported that the location was allegedly used to hide and distribute liquor in violation of state prohibition laws.

Earlier this month, the SMC conducted another significant operation near the Ramol toll plaza in Ahmedabad, seizing 19,848 bottles of IMFL valued at over ₹1 crore. Including the vehicle and other items, the total estimated value of the seized goods was around ₹1.3 crore, leading to multiple charges under liquor prohibition laws.
