Ahmedabad, June 23: The School Admission Festival in Gujarat commenced on Tuesday, marking a significant initiative by the state government. The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation has introduced the ‘School on Wheels’ program aimed at enhancing educational access for students in remote areas.
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi inaugurated 28 specially designed government buses under the ‘Samagra Shiksha’ campaign. These buses are equipped with facilities tailored for young children, including resources for yoga and access to programs like ‘Mann Ki Baat.’ The eco-friendly buses are powered entirely by solar energy, featuring solar panels on their roofs.
This initiative aims to provide education to students in smaller towns and villages. Each bus is fitted with a solar panel that has a 20-year warranty, ensuring it can operate for up to 48 hours on electric power. The buses boast modern amenities such as smart TVs, portable FM radios, shaded areas, and facilities for yoga.
During a press interaction, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi announced the start of the 23rd Admission Festival. He stated that the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation has handed over these 28 buses to the education department, which are designed to offer an environment even better than traditional classrooms.
These buses will operate on solar power, and provisions for online classes have been made with the inclusion of dish TV. Each bus can accommodate 20 children, providing a playful yet educational atmosphere. Sanghvi expressed his admiration for this initiative, indicating plans for more such buses in the future.
