Parents of Ankita Bhandari Demand Justice Amid Protests, Congress Leaders Stand Firm
Ankita Bhandaris parents issue a 24-hour ultimatum for justice, as Congress leaders vow to support them in ongoing protests.
New Delhi, October 15 (Daily Kiran) : Ankita Bhandari‘s parents, along with all Congress protesters detained earlier, have been released by Delhi police. According to Congress, Ankita’s parents have moved to stay with a relative.
Speaking to reporters, Ankita’s father issued a stark warning: “We are giving the government a 24-hour ultimatum. People across the country, in every state, will take to the streets demanding justice for Ankita. Our daughter has received incomplete justice due to the involvement of a VIP in this case. The SIT and the government have deliberately acted to protect that VIP. As you can see, protests will continue until a CBI investigation is conducted. If we do not receive justice, the public will rise up.”
Congress MP Pawan Khera commented on the situation, stating, “The accused in the rape case is being shielded. The victim is being sent to the police station while those supporting her are being detained. This is the state of affairs in our nation’s capital, Delhi. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi have offered condolences to the victim’s family, assuring them that the entire party stands with them. We will fight for justice for Ankita until our last breath.”
Imran Pratapgarhi, another Congress MP, reiterated the party’s commitment, saying, “The Congress party stood with Ankita yesterday, stands with her today, and will continue to stand with her in the future. We stand with every daughter of this country. Our MPs will be there. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are with us. You cannot end this fight by detaining our activists in large numbers.”
Congress leader Supriya Srinet criticized the authorities, stating, “Those who have been demanding justice for the past four years are being ignored, while the accused is being protected. The treatment of the victim’s parents has been brutally harsh. They are dragging girls away before dawn. What kind of law enforcement is this in Delhi?”
Gurdeep Singh Sapal, another Congress leader, emphasized that the issue is closely tied to Ankita’s parents and their demands. They wish to meet with the President. Ironically, the individual accused in this case is reportedly under investigation by the CBI in connection with the Bhandari murder case.
