Noida Food Safety Team Seizes 240 Liters of Ghee and 18 Kilograms of Chili Powder

A food safety raid in Noida leads to the seizure of large quantities of ghee and chili powder due to labeling violations.

Noida, October 15 (Daily Kiran) : Authorities from the Noida Food Safety Department conducted a raid on Community Private Limited, an online platform company located in the New Basti area of Dadri, on October 15. This operation coincided with the Sharadiya Navratri festival, a time when food demand typically surges.

During the inspection, officials confiscated approximately 240 liters of ghee and 18 kilograms of chili powder. They also collected samples of six food items, including the ghee, for further testing.

The raid was led by Chief Food Safety Officer Virendra Dwivedi, following directives from the District Magistrate. The team assessed the quality, packaging, and labeling of the food products present at the site.

The investigation revealed misleading information on the ghee packaging regarding the presence of vitamins and minerals. As a result, the officials took the serious step of seizing the 240 liters of ghee. The inspection also included products under the Avatar brand, as well as cow ghee.

In addition, the chili powder was seized due to the absence of packing dates and batch numbers. To ensure compliance with food quality standards, the department collected samples of various items, including ghee, chili powder, fox nuts, mustard oil, and buckwheat flour. A total of six samples will be sent for laboratory analysis, and further actions will be determined based on the results.

The Food Safety Department has advised food vendors to purchase items only from licensed or registered suppliers and to retain purchase bills. They emphasized the importance of checking manufacturing dates, packing dates, and batch numbers during the buying and selling of food products.

Officials noted that given the increased demand for food during the festival season, the raid campaign will continue. The aim is to provide consumers with safe, quality food and to take necessary actions against businesses violating regulations.
