A large number of devotees gathered to pay their respects, forming long queues since late night to glimpse the divine form of Baba Mahakal.

Early Wednesday morning, after seeking blessings from Lord Veerabhadra, the temple doors were opened with the sound of drums and trumpets. As devotees caught sight of Baba Mahakal after the divine adornment and Bhasma Aarti, the air resonated with chants of “Jai Shri Mahakal.” The temple complex was filled with the sounds of bells, conch shells, and mantras.

With the opening of the temple gates, the ritual of water abhishekam commenced, using Panchamrit made from milk, yogurt, ghee, sugar, and fruit juices. Devotees offered holy water to Baba Mahakal while ringing bells.

The temple priests conducted the Mahaarati, allowing numerous devotees to witness the Bhasma Aarti. Many had queued since the previous night, eager to see their beloved deity.

Traditionally, ashes from the cremation ground were offered to Mahakal, but now, a special Bhasma made from cow dung of the Kapila breed and medicinal herbs is utilized. During the Bhasma Aarti, men are required to wear traditional dhoti-sola, while women must don sarees.

The Aarti of Baba Mahakal is renowned across the nation and attracts visitors from all walks of life, including prominent personalities. To maintain order during this event, a significant number of police personnel are deployed around the temple area.
