Grand Launch of Bengal T20 League Season 3 with Saurav Ganguly

Kolkata, June 6: The Bengal T20 League Season 3 has officially commenced following the conclusion of the Indian Premier League 2026. Various states across India are currently hosting T20 leagues supported by their respective cricket boards. The Mumbai Cricket Board (MCA) is organizing the Mumbai T20 League for both men and women at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Similarly, T20 leagues for men and women are also taking place in Madhya Pradesh.

The grand opening of the Bengal T20 League took place at the renowned Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday. Saurav Ganguly, the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), was present at the event.

In addition to Ganguly, notable attendees included CAB Vice President Nitish Ranjan Dutta, Secretary Bablu Kolay, Joint Secretary Madan Mohan Ghosh, Treasurer Sanjay Das, former Indian women’s cricket star Jhulan Goswami, and Samiran Das, the chairman of the Bengal T20 League.

This third edition of the Bengal T20 League features eight teams each for both men and women. The opening ceremony was attended by team owners and captains, celebrating the spirit of cricket in Bengal and setting the stage for an exciting season ahead. The tournament is scheduled to run until June 21.

West Bengal is considered a crucial state for Indian cricket, having produced notable players such as Saurav Ganguly, Mohammed Shami, Wriddhiman Saha, Deep Das Gupta, and women’s cricket legend Jhulan Goswami.

Saurav Ganguly has been a prominent figure in Indian cricket, serving as the captain of the national team for an extended period and as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He has held several significant positions within the ICC as well. As a captain, he brought revolutionary changes to the Indian cricket team’s performance. Now, as CAB president, Ganguly is dedicated to enhancing Bengal cricket. The Bengal T20 League plays a vital role in advancing cricket in the state.
