Government Claims Success in Combating Naxalism Under PM Modis Leadership

New Delhi, March 31: BJP MP Shashank Mani has voiced support for Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent statements on Naxalism in the Lok Sabha. He asserted that under Prime Minister Modi’s guidance and Amit Shah’s leadership, the government has effectively controlled and nearly eradicated Naxalism.

Amit Shah referenced Chhattisgarh during his Lok Sabha address, noting that he visited the state just two months after the government changed. He emphasized that the BJP government provided full support and developed a shared strategy. On August 24, 2024, he declared that Naxalism would be eradicated from the country by March 2026. Following this, security measures were significantly enhanced. In PM Modi’s 11 years in office, 596 fortified police stations have been established. The number of Naxal-affected districts has decreased from 126 in 2014 to just two today, and the most affected districts have dropped from 35 to zero. These achievements highlight the government’s progress.

In a discussion in New Delhi regarding Amit Shah’s statements, Shashank Mani pointed out that the Home Minister posed a critical question to the opposition: Why have schools and colleges not been built in Bastar over the years? He noted that the presence of militants has led to the destruction of educational institutions in the region. This situation arises because Naxalites believe they can maintain their rule through violence and armed conflict, rather than adhering to the Constitution.

He emphasized that the entire nation, especially the youth, must understand that the Naxalism propagated by urban Naxals is fundamentally flawed. The ‘Red Corridor’ regions have been deprived of development due to Naxalism. However, with the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, Naxalism is diminishing, and development is on the rise.

The BJP MP explained how the CPI was formed, followed by CPI-M, and how external forces have influenced these developments. He asserted that the recent debate in the Lok Sabha made it clear that previous governments lacked the will to protect these areas. In contrast, the current government is fostering development in Naxal-affected regions.
