Patna, June 18: A viral video showing a police operation in Bilauti village, Bhojpur district, has prompted departmental action against three police officers. Following the video’s circulation, the officers were suspended.
In the footage, a young man is seen brandishing a pistol and threatening the police team. Senior police officials took notice of the incident, leading to the suspension of the officers involved.
Dr. Satya Prakash, the DIG of Shahabad range, immediately suspended the Station House Officer (SHO) Rajesh Kumar Malakar. This decision came after an initial investigation revealed serious negligence in duty.
The action was based on a proposal from Bhojpur’s SP, Raj. Additionally, a sub-inspector and a constable present at the scene were also suspended.
The police team had received information that the accused, Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, was in possession of illegal firearms and displaying them publicly. Acting on this tip-off, the team arrived at Bilauti village, but the situation escalated unexpectedly.
During the operation, tensions rose, and the viral video later showed the accused openly waving a pistol and threatening the officers. This footage raised questions about the police team’s actions and their response to the situation. Senior officials reviewed the entire incident.
The departmental investigation revealed that the officers on-site failed to demonstrate the necessary vigilance, preparedness, and prompt action in such sensitive and risky conditions. Based on the investigation report, departmental action was initiated against the involved officers.
This controversy has deepened in the context of a police encounter involving Bharat Bhushan Tiwari. According to police reports, a shootout occurred during the encounter, resulting in Tiwari being injured. He was admitted to PMCH for treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
While the encounter is a significant aspect of this case, the current public discourse and departmental investigation focus on the viral video and the police’s operational methods, preparedness, and accountability.
