Gangasagar Mela Gains National and International Recognition, Law Proposed for Vande Mataram Respect: Jagannath Sarkar

Nadia, July 18: BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar has called for the Gangasagar Mela to receive special recognition at both national and international levels. He also expressed support for a proposed law aimed at ensuring respect for ‘Vande Mataram’, stating that any compromise on the nation’s honor and integrity is unacceptable.
In a conversation, Sarkar emphasized that the Gangasagar Mela is not just a West Bengal event; it symbolizes the faith of the entire country. Millions of devotees from various states, languages, and communities attend this festival. Many aspire to visit Gangasagar at least once in their lifetime. Given its religious, cultural, and spiritual significance, the mela deserves national and international recognition and respect.
Welcoming the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the revision of the voter list, the BJP MP noted that if a citizen’s name is inadvertently omitted, it does not strip them of their citizenship. He advocated for these individuals to have the opportunity to reapply and for the government to establish effective mechanisms to identify genuine and legitimate citizens of the country.
Regarding the proposed law to ensure respect for ‘Vande Mataram’, Sarkar stated that any anti-national activities or behaviors that disrespect the nation cannot be tolerated. ‘Vande Mataram’ is not merely a song; it represents patriotism and national pride. Therefore, any obstruction or insult to it should result in stringent legal action. Maintaining the unity, integrity, and respect of the nation requires strict laws, and the central government’s initiative in this direction is appropriate.
Commenting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks about the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the BJP MP agreed with the Prime Minister’s statements. He accused AAP of being embroiled in corruption, claiming there is substantial evidence to support this. If anyone wishes to refute these allegations, they must present facts and evidence. Transparency before the public is a democratic necessity, and legal action should be taken in corruption cases. The protection of national interest, respect, and cultural values should be the highest priority.
