Mumbai, March 24: Samsung’s upcoming foldable device, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, is generating buzz as leaks begin to surface. A recent tip from a reliable source on X provides an early glimpse into what Samsung has in store for its 2026 foldable refresh.
If the timeline remains accurate, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is anticipated to launch around July 2026, approximately a year after the Fold 7. This new device is rumored to feature an 8-inch inner folding display alongside a 6.5-inch cover screen, both boasting 120Hz refresh rates. Notably, Samsung is reportedly focusing on enhancing durability this time around.
The main screen may incorporate a dual-layer ultra-thin glass design, supported by a laser-drilled metal plate underneath. This innovation aims to improve strength and potentially minimize the visibility of the crease. Additionally, early reports suggest that the Fold 8 will be thinner and lighter than its predecessor.
On the performance front, Samsung is expected to utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset for the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Memory options could reach up to 16GB of RAM, with storage capacities ranging from 256GB to 1TB. There are also indications of a vapor chamber cooling system, a feature absent in the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This combination should enhance sustained performance compared to the previous model.
Camera specifications remain somewhat unclear, but the latest leak suggests a robust setup, including a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom. While this configuration appears impressive, it does not entirely align with earlier reports regarding a telephoto upgrade.
Battery life is expected to see significant improvements, with the Fold 8 likely to exceed the 4,400mAh threshold. It has also been spotted in the 3C certification database, indicating a potential charging upgrade.
While these details are still in the early leak stage and subject to change, it seems Samsung is concentrating on refining the user experience rather than making drastic changes this year.
