DJI Avata 360 Launches with Impressive 8K Video and 120MP Photos

Mumbai, March 28: DJI has officially entered the expanding 360-degree FPV market with its latest offering, the Avata 360. This drone is designed for creators seeking greater flexibility in their footage. The concept is straightforward: capture everything in one shot and decide on the framing afterward.

The Avata 360 features a dual-lens configuration equipped with 1/1.1-inch square CMOS sensors. Each lens boasts relatively large 2.4 μm pixels, enhancing performance in challenging lighting conditions. DJI claims the capability to capture up to 120MP still images and 8K video at 60fps in full 360 mode. For those who prefer a more conventional view, a single-lens mode is available, allowing for 4K video at 60fps.

What sets this camera apart is its post-shooting flexibility. By capturing a complete 360-degree view, users can reframe shots, select different angles, or create multiple clips from a single flight. While this concept isn’t entirely new, its integration into a compact FPV drone makes it more practical for everyday shooting.

DJI has also incorporated its renowned flight technology into the Avata 360. The drone utilizes the O4+ transmission system, delivering a 1080p live feed at 60fps with a claimed range of up to 20 kilometers. Additionally, it features omnidirectional obstacle sensing, which eases the flying experience, particularly in confined spaces. Other features include ActiveTrack 360° and Spotlight Free.

Several practical enhancements are noteworthy. The front lens is replaceable in case of damage, it comes with 42GB of built-in storage, and Wi-Fi 6 accelerates file transfers. The flight time is rated at up to 23 minutes, and the drone weighs approximately 455 grams.

DJI launched the Avata 360 on March 26, initially available in China, with a broader rollout anticipated soon. The pricing is set at around £409 or €459, which is competitive given the features offered.
