Sheikhpura, March 29: District Magistrate Shekhar Anand conducted a review of pending cases under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. He issued strict directives for the swift resolution of all outstanding cases.
The review meeting took place in the Manthan conference room of the district collectorate, focusing on the current status of SC/ST atrocity cases, the progress of investigations, and the compensation provided to victims.
During the meeting, DM Shekhar Anand instructed the SC/ST police station in-charge and relevant police officials to expedite the investigation of all pending cases. He emphasized that unnecessary delays in these matters would not be tolerated. Steps must be taken to ensure the rapid resolution of all outstanding cases.
The DM stressed the importance of timely disbursement of relief funds and compensation to victims. He warned officials that any deliberate delays in cases would result in strict action against them.
The meeting was attended by the Additional Collector (Investigation), all public prosecutors, and several senior officials from the police department, including the in-charge of the SC/ST police station. The District Magistrate directed all prosecutors to take necessary legal steps to expedite cases pending in court, ensuring that victims receive justice promptly.
The meeting also highlighted the need to provide not only financial assistance but also psychological and social security to victims under the SC/ST Act. Discussions included launching awareness programs to prevent atrocities against the SC/ST community in the district.
The District Magistrate reiterated the government’s commitment to freeing Scheduled Castes and Tribes from any form of atrocities and ensuring them complete justice. For this, both administration and police must work in coordination.
At the end of the meeting, all relevant officials were instructed to submit a status report on pending cases within the next month.
