Galaxy S27 Ultra Set to Feature LPDDR6 RAM with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro

Mumbai, March 28: Recent leaks suggest that the Galaxy S27 Ultra may be among the first smartphones to incorporate the next generation of memory, promising significant improvements.

According to the latest information, this device is expected to come equipped with LPDDR6 RAM, likely in combination with Qualcomm’s forthcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. This advancement would position it as one of the earliest Android phones to transition from the widely used LPDDR5X, which is still prevalent in most flagship models today.

On paper, LPDDR6 represents a substantial upgrade. It is anticipated to deliver higher bandwidth and enhanced efficiency, thanks to modifications in memory channel architecture. In practical terms, this could translate to smoother multitasking, faster app loading times, and superior performance in demanding tasks such as gaming and on-device AI applications. While the perceived difference may vary, it is expected to be quantifiable.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset is also expected to be a significant enhancement. Qualcomm is reportedly developing two versions: the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and a more robust Pro variant. The Pro version is anticipated to feature a “superior” Adreno 850 GPU with 18MB GMEM, while the standard variant will likely include an Adreno 845 GPU with 12MB GMEM. Both chipsets are expected to utilize a 2+3+3 CPU configuration and may be manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process, enhancing overall efficiency.

In addition, Samsung is actively developing its own chips, namely the Exynos 2700 and Exynos 2800. However, early reports indicate that the Ultra model will primarily rely on Qualcomm’s technology in most markets.

It is important to note that adopting newer memory standards and advanced chipsets typically leads to increased costs. With DRAM and storage prices already on the rise, it is likely that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will be priced higher than its predecessor.

While it is still early in the development process and many factors could change before the launch, if these details are accurate, the S27 Ultra could be one of the first Android devices to fully embrace next-generation hardware.
