Kolkata, March 28: BJP leader Locket Chatterjee has accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of inciting violence and unrest in the state. He stated that the law and order situation in West Bengal has deteriorated significantly. Instead of improving it, the Chief Minister is making it worse.
In an interview with a news agency, Chatterjee remarked, “The law and order situation in West Bengal is becoming increasingly serious even before the assembly elections. Mamata Banerjee has already indicated that there could be riots and unrest during this time. This is proving to be true. Whenever she makes such statements, they tend to manifest.”
He further claimed that the Chief Minister aims to polarize votes through appeasement politics. This, he asserted, is her primary concern. He criticized her for not having done anything for either minorities or the majority during her tenure.
“There is a 15-year anti-incumbency wave here. The people of West Bengal know what has been done to them over the past 15 years, and this time, they are determined to oust her. The entire country needs to understand what the TMC government has done to the people of West Bengal,” he added.
Regarding the BJP’s manifesto, he stated, “The people of West Bengal want a report card, a charge sheet on the TMC government’s 15 years of anti-incumbency. Corruption is the biggest issue. Young people are not getting jobs, appeasement politics is rampant, and votes are being bought with allowances. While the country is progressing, Bengal is lagging behind. People are migrating from West Bengal.”
He also mentioned, “The TMC talks about riots, which indicates their appeasement tactics and repeated violence during Hindu festivals.”
Chatterjee concluded by saying that the people of West Bengal are aware that the Mamata government has neither done anything for them in the past nor plans to do so in the future. This realization has led the populace to consider bringing in a BJP government. He noted that the Mamata government is aware of this shift, which is why she appears troubled.
