Mumbai, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : Jitendra Kumar recently reminisced about his remarkable journey from student to actor during a conversation on the show “Pehla Pehla.” The “Panchayat” star recalled his first performance in school, where he played the role of Tadka in a Ramayana play. At that time, he never imagined acting could become his career.
Reflecting on that experience, Jitendra said, “My first acting experience was during a school play where I portrayed Tadka. Back then, I didn’t think it would lead to a professional career; it was just a school performance.”
After completing school, Jitendra shifted his focus entirely to academics. He moved to Kota to prepare for the IIT entrance exams and eventually secured a spot at IIT Kharagpur. However, he faced challenges adjusting to campus life.
He admitted that he often felt out of place due to his struggle with English. “When I arrived at IIT Kharagpur, speaking English was difficult for me. It was a sudden shift to an environment where everyone spoke English fluently, and I felt left behind,” he shared.
It was during his time at IIT that he discovered theatre and began participating in competitions. This marked the first time he considered acting as a viable career option.
“I stumbled upon theatre at IIT. I started joining competitions, and each performance made me realize how much I enjoyed it. That was the first time I thought acting could be something for me,” he explained.
On the work front, Jitendra recently appeared as Bablu Pandit in the film adaptation of the popular franchise “Mirzapur,” although he had not been part of the original web series.
Jitendra’s journey illustrates the transformative power of theatre and the unexpected paths that can lead to fulfilling careers.
