Four U.S. Presidents, Including Trump, Survive Assassination Attempts

New Delhi, April 26: Former U.S. President Donald Trump narrowly escaped a significant assassination attempt for the third time. He is not alone; a history of U.S. presidents who have survived such attacks is notable. In total, four presidents have faced assassination attempts and lived to tell the tale.

Trump has become the most recent and frequently targeted president in this regard. On the night of April 25, during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Hilton Hotel in Washington, gunfire erupted. Fortunately, the assailant was apprehended soon after.

Prior to this incident, on September 15, 2024, Trump was targeted while playing golf at a Florida course. A 59-year-old man, Ryan Wesley Roth, hid in the bushes with an AK-style rifle, aiming at Trump in West Palm Beach. Once again, Trump escaped unharmed.

The first attempt on Trump’s life occurred on July 13, 2024, during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. As he began his speech, shots rang out. Although he survived, one bullet grazed his ear, causing a stream of blood.

Before Trump, Ronald Reagan also survived an assassination attempt. Coincidentally, the attack occurred outside the same hotel where the dinner was held decades later. In 1981, Reagan was shot outside the Washington Hilton Hotel but survived. A bullet struck his limousine and grazed him on the left side.

In the 1970s, President Gerald Ford was fortunate enough to survive not one, but two assassination attempts within three weeks in 1975, emerging without a scratch.

Theodore Roosevelt’s name also appears in this history; he was attacked during his 1912 campaign when a bullet struck his chest, yet he survived.

Conversely, some U.S. presidents have tragically fallen victim to violent acts. Notable figures include Abraham Lincoln in 1865, James Garfield in 1881, William McKinley in 1901, and John F. Kennedy in 1963, all of whom were assassinated while in office.
