Former Pakistani Diplomat Abdul Basit Makes Controversial Remarks on India

New Delhi, March 21: Former Pakistani diplomat Abdul Basit has stirred controversy with his recent comments regarding potential military actions against India. Speaking on a television show, he made alarming statements aimed at defending his nation’s position.

During an interview with ABN News, Basit, who previously served as Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India, boasted about the possibility of retaliating against India if the United States were to attack Pakistan.

He stated, “Imagine if the situation in Iran deteriorates and Israel establishes a presence nearby. If the U.S. views our nuclear program unfavorably or attempts to undermine our nuclear capabilities, which is unlikely.”

Basit continued, “I am discussing the worst-case scenario, which is improbable because Pakistan has the capacity to defend itself. However, if the U.S. were to attack Pakistan and we couldn’t reach their bases in the region or even target Israel, what options would we have?”

He then made a shocking assertion, saying, “If the U.S. does not fall within our range and someone casts a malicious eye on us, we would have to attack India without hesitation. We would target Mumbai or New Delhi. We cannot let this go unchallenged. Whatever happens afterward will be dealt with later. We will have no other choice if the U.S. attacks us, which is unlikely. The world should understand that if anyone looks at us with ill intent, we will not back down without a response.”

Concluding his remarks, Basit acknowledged that India would not desire such a situation either, and emphasized that Pakistan hopes not to be viewed with suspicion.
