Former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda Criticises Centre’s Budget as Unbeneficial for Any Section

Rohtak, February 1: Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has strongly criticised the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday, calling it directionless and hollow. Hooda said the budget will not benefit any section of society and has left the common people deeply disappointed.

He pointed out that a close look at the overall budget figures reveals actual cuts, with allocations for several important sectors being halved. Hooda alleged that the budget dashes public hopes instead of advancing the country’s development.

According to the former Chief Minister, the budget lacks concrete plans for education and fails to strengthen healthcare services. He also noted the absence of significant relief measures for farmers and the agriculture sector, increasing dissatisfaction in rural areas. Hooda accused the central government of discrimination against Haryana, stating that the state was ignored previously and once again there is no special package or project announced for Haryana in this budget.

He described the budget as a mere play with numbers, ignoring ground realities.

Congress MP Deepender Hooda echoed these sentiments, stating that Haryana’s name was missing from the budget. While allocations were mentioned, no projects were announced despite Haryana being one of the highest GST contributors and toll collectors for national highways. He criticised the BJP-led central government for neglecting Haryana despite the party being in power both at the centre and the state.

Deepender Hooda said, “The BJP government at the centre has turned Haryana into a tax collection centre. When it comes to taking, they take with both hands, but when it comes to giving, they do not even spare a pinch. No mention of airports, metro, rail, sports, education, or healthcare – some recognition in the budget would have been welcome. Why is the central BJP government treating Haryana so unfairly?”
