Bhopal, 23 August (Kiran News). The monsoon remains active in Madhya Pradesh. On Saturday, several districts including Sheopur, Shivpuri, Morena, Ujjain, Shajapur, Dindori, Singrauli, Narmadapuram, and Barwani (Sendhwa) received substantial rainfall. In Sheopur and Shivpuri, continuous heavy rain for the past two days has created flood-like conditions. Rivers and streams are overflowing and water has entered low-lying areas. Waterlogging in houses, shops, and on roads has severely disrupted daily life. According to the Meteorological Department, the state has recorded an average of 33.6 inches of rainfall so far, which is close to normal, though excessive rainfall in some districts has raised concerns.

Rainfall continues across the state, significantly impacting several districts. In Shivpuri, people are risking their lives to cross overflowing rivers and streams. A similar situation was seen in Guru Kudvaya village of Pichhore, where a tractor driver drove a tractor-trolley into a swollen stream with several villagers aboard. On the Khod-Mayapur route in Pichhore, the crossing is submerged, forcing people to use an under-construction bridge. In Kharai village of Kolaras, the primary health centre has been flooded, making it difficult for pregnant women and patients to reach the hospital, having to walk through three to four feet of water.

Water Enters Homes in Baroda, Sheopur; Tawa Dam Gates Opened

In Sheopur’s Baroda area, several homes have been flooded due to continuous rainfall over the last two days. The road from Sheopur to Baran in Rajasthan has also been closed due to waterlogging. In Narmadapuram’s Itarsi, the Tawa Dam gates were opened for the fourth consecutive day on Saturday, with three gates raised up to five feet to release excess water.
