
Berlin, April 14: Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has arrived in Berlin for consultations between India and Germany’s foreign offices. He will review the strategic partnership between the two nations and discuss regional and global issues.
Foreign Secretary Misri landed in Berlin early Tuesday (Indian time), where he was welcomed by Ajit Gupt, India’s Ambassador to Germany.
The Indian Embassy in Germany announced on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has arrived in Berlin for the India-Germany Foreign Office consultations. This visit follows the successful trip of Chancellor Friedrich Merz to India in January 2026 and reflects the ongoing dialogue between India and Germany.”
Ambassador Ajit Gupt also welcomed Foreign Secretary Misri via social media, noting, “This visit provides an opportunity to review the full scope of the India-Germany strategic partnership, advance discussions on key pillars of the bilateral agenda, and exchange views on regional and global developments.”
Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced that Foreign Secretary Misri would co-chair the India-Germany Foreign Office consultations alongside Geza Andreas von Geier, State Secretary of the German Foreign Office.
The MEA stated, “The discussions will cover various areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade and investment, defense and security, technology, green energy, development cooperation, education, and mutual interests in global and regional matters.”
The Foreign Secretary is also expected to meet with senior government officials during his visit.
This trip follows Foreign Secretary Misri’s recent visit to Paris, where he co-chaired the India-France Foreign Office consultations with Martin Briens, Secretary General of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the discussions in Paris encompassed a wide range of topics, including defense, civil nuclear energy, space, cyber and digital cooperation, AI, innovation, and initiatives aimed at strengthening humanitarian and cultural ties.
Previously, the Indian Foreign Secretary met with Jean-Noël Barrot, France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, to discuss bilateral cooperation and current global challenges.
