Lucknow, June 4: In response to the devastating fire incident at a hotel in Malviya Nagar, Delhi, a special campaign for fire safety has been launched in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. On Thursday, the fire department team inspected safety measures at the Gemini Continental Hotel located in Hazratganj.

During the inspection, officials assessed the fire safety equipment, emergency exit routes, and preparedness for rescue operations in case of a fire. They also checked compliance with established safety standards within the hotel.

Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Ankush Mittal stated that the tragic incident in Delhi resulted in multiple fatalities. Following this, senior officials in the state have directed comprehensive fire safety inspections across all hotels.

He mentioned, “After the incident in Delhi, senior officials including the DG, ADG, Commissioner, and District Magistrate conducted a review and instructed inspections of all hotels in the district. This action is being taken accordingly.”

Mittal noted that Lucknow has a total of nine fire stations, each with special teams assigned. The in-charge of each fire station is inspecting hotels in their respective areas.

The campaign aims to ensure that no hotel has safety deficiencies and that adequate arrangements are in place to protect people in emergencies.

The fire department has urged hotel operators to strictly adhere to safety standards and maintain fire-fighting equipment in full working order. Officials have warned that any violations discovered during inspections will lead to action against the respective establishments.
