New Delhi, March 29: A fire broke out in a multi-story building in the Dayalpur area of Northeast Delhi on Sunday. The blaze escalated quickly, prompting four individuals to jump from the first floor in a desperate attempt to escape. They were subsequently hospitalized for treatment. Firefighters managed to rescue four others trapped inside the building.
The incident occurred around 2:30 AM in a house located on Block F, Street Number 23 in Chand Bagh. The fire spread rapidly, necessitating the immediate deployment of 11 fire engines and personnel to the scene. Smoke filled the upper floors, and two scooters along with a motorcycle parked in the area were also engulfed in flames, exacerbating the situation.
In a state of panic, four individuals—Nikhat (22), Rashida (50), Soni (25), and Ashif (2)—jumped from the first floor before the fire units arrived. They were rushed to Jagpravesh Chandra Hospital for medical attention. Meanwhile, firefighters successfully evacuated four other residents from the second, third, and fourth floors. All injured individuals were transported to the hospital, where some were discharged after receiving initial treatment, while others remain under care.
The initial firefighting team included four water tankers, a water bowser unit, a quick response vehicle, a total turnout vehicle, and a mobile pump. ADO Deepak Hooda, STO Anoop, and SO Hari Shankar oversaw the situation at the fire site.
The building comprised five floors, including the ground floor, covering an area of approximately 50 square yards. The rapid spread of fire and smoke caused alarm among nearby residents. The fire brigade worked diligently and successfully brought the blaze under control.
