Rain Alert

Jodhpur, 21 August (Kiran News). The monsoon has become active once again in the state. After a long interval, several areas of the Jodhpur division experienced heavy rainfall this afternoon. On the twelfth day of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada, the skies opened up and brought much-awaited showers. The downpour brought relief from the intense heat and humidity that had gripped the region. Dark clouds gathered swiftly and, accompanied by strong winds, led to heavy rain. Roads in the city quickly filled with water, and drains in homes started overflowing. The rain brought a smile to farmers’ faces in the rural areas, especially as many crops were on the verge of drying out.

Rain Alert

According to the Meteorological Department’s warning, the monsoon was expected to become active across the state starting Thursday. Rainfall was also predicted for Marwar, including the Jodhpur region, on Thursday. The entire division, along with the state, had been enduring severe heat and humidity for several days, with conditions reminiscent of May and June even during the month of Bhado.

Good rainfall in the city and nearby villages this afternoon lifted the spirits of the residents, especially the farmers. The waterlogged roads, however, once again highlighted the shortcomings of the local administration. The Meteorological Department has also issued a warning for moderate to heavy rain in some parts of the Jodhpur division over the next three hours.

Due to the sudden heavy rain, many pilgrims had to take refuge in temporary shelters. Some were seen standing under trees along the roads, while others continued to enjoy the rain as they walked.
