Mumbai, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in Mumbai has announced a recruitment drive for 10 apprentice positions across various trades. An official notification detailing these vacancies has been posted on the institute’s website.

The available positions include two carpenters, three electricians, one fitter, one welder (G&E), one painter, one machinist, and one turner. Interested candidates can begin the online application process immediately.

To qualify, applicants must possess a National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the relevant trade from a recognized institution, with a minimum score of 60%. The maximum age limit for candidates is set at 28 years, calculated as of September 30, 2026. Candidates from reserved categories will receive age relaxation as per regulations.

Selection for these apprentice roles will be based on an evaluation of applications, document verification, a written examination, and overall scores from all semesters in the specified trade. Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of ₹18,500.

The walk-in selection will take place on September 30, starting at 9:30 AM at the TIFR campus located at 1 Homi Bhabha Road, Navy Nagar, Colaba, Mumbai-400005. Candidates attending the walk-in are advised to arrive on time and bring both original and photocopies of all necessary documents, along with recent passport-sized photographs.
