Over 3,000 Students in Uttar Pradesh to Receive Skill Training Alongside Education

Lucknow, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant move to enhance employability, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced that over 3,000 students studying in Jay Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalayas will receive vocational training alongside their regular education. This initiative, part of the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission’s ‘Project Praveen,’ aims to connect students with job-oriented skills from an early age.

The training is set to commence by September 30, 2026, at 31 designated training providers across the state. Kapil Dev Agarwal, the state’s Minister of Vocational Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, emphasized that the goal of ‘Project Praveen’ is to equip students with skills that prepare them for employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

Students will receive training in various sectors, including apparel, IT-ITeS, and management, based on their interests and the available programs. Agarwal noted that this initiative aligns with the government’s skill development policy, which focuses on bridging education and employment.

To maintain quality, the mission has capped each training batch at 35 students, with a total training duration of 300 hours. This structure ensures that students’ regular schooling remains unaffected while they gain essential skills. The mission has also established a multi-tier monitoring system to ensure transparency and quality in the training process.

Training providers will need to submit contracts to the mission headquarters for approval before forming batches in their respective districts. Prior to the start of training, job roles will be verified through the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) and the National Qualifications Register (NQR) portal. Only recognized job roles will be eligible for training.

Providers must supply necessary course materials to students within seven days of the batch start date, with signed receipts and photographs uploaded to the mission portal. The curriculum and evaluation will adhere to standards set by the relevant sector skill councils. Payments for training will be made according to established common cost norms.

Mission Director Pulkit Khare has instructed training providers to adhere to timelines and regulations. He emphasized that the mission’s priority is to ensure that training translates into practical skills for students. ‘Project Praveen’ is designed to boost students’ confidence and prepare them for better career opportunities in the future, ensuring that every student benefits fully from this initiative.
