Essential Skin Care Tips After Holi: Internal and External Remedies for Radiant Skin

New Delhi, March 2: Holi is a festival of colors and joy, but it can also be harmful to your skin if precautions are not taken. The chemicals in the colors can strip the skin of its natural moisture, leading to dryness or peeling. Those with sensitive skin are at a higher risk of developing red rashes and allergies. Therefore, it is crucial to protect your skin both during and after the festivities.

In Ayurveda, skin is referred to as “tvak,” which serves not only as an outer covering but also as a mirror of the body, providing protection. After applying Holi colors, the skin requires nourishment and cleansing. Ayurveda offers several methods that can be easily performed at home.

To remove Holi colors, avoid using any soap or face wash on your face. These products contain chemicals that can react negatively with the colors. Instead, rinse your face with plain water and gently scrub it with corn flour or coarse rice flour. This will not only cleanse your face but also help remove dirt effectively.

Next, apply a paste of Multani Mitti (Fuller’s Earth) and yogurt on your face. It is common to experience itching or red rashes when removing colors. This paste will soothe skin irritation and enhance your complexion. Afterward, apply fresh aloe vera gel to your skin. This will keep your skin soft and provide relief.

Remember, skin care involves both external and internal care. To relax your body, drink warm milk at night. Additionally, avoid consuming too many fried foods on Holi.
