Manchester, September 13 (Patrika English News): England scripted history at Old Trafford on Friday night by becoming the first team to cross the 300-run mark in a T20 International against a full-member nation. The hosts piled up a mammoth 304/2 in 20 overs and went on to thrash South Africa by 146 runs in the second T20I.

Phil Salt was the star of the night, smashing an unbeaten 141 off just 60 balls — the highest individual score by any English batter in T20Is. Captain Jos Buttler added to the carnage with a whirlwind 83 off 30 deliveries.

Buttler raced to his half-century in just 18 balls, while Salt completed his century in 39 balls, making it the fastest T20I hundred ever by an England player. England reached 100 runs inside 5.5 overs, setting the tone for a record-breaking innings.

Chasing 305, South Africa collapsed to 158 in 16.1 overs. Captain Aiden Markram (41) and Bjorn Fortuin (32) offered brief resistance, but England’s bowling attack proved too strong. Jofra Archer (3/25) and Sam Curran (2/11) were the pick of the bowlers.

This 146-run victory is England’s biggest-ever win in T20 Internationals and levels the three-match series 1-1.
